It’s true – there are only 5 weeks until PMAHA hockey officially gets underway! I hope everyone is having a great summer, and enjoying some time with family and friends.

Just a couple of reminders as we get closer to the start of the season.

Referees – 2017/18 New and returning referee applications are due+ by July 15th+. If you want to wear the stripes this year, be sure to get your application in. Click REF FORM and return a completed form to

Summer Camps – There are still some space left for our upcoming summer camps – all divisions from initiation to Midget are scheduled for the weeks of August 14 & 21. Click CAMPS to register.

Rep tryouts – just a reminder that rep tryouts begin on Saturday, August 26th. Please be prepared to be on the ice from this day onward. There will be no tryout times over the long weekend. Click CALENDAR and check for updates on the schedule.

Volunteers – we are still looking for a number of volunteers.

Divisional coordinators play a critical role during tryouts and the early part of the season. Without volunteers, tryouts cannot happen, and rust removal ice times/balancing games cannot be coordinated. Ideally, we would like two coordinators per division so at this time we are looking for 5 additional volunteers to step forward for these vacant positions.

We are now accepting application forms for BOTH NEW AND RETURNING ice officials to referee games and tournaments in Port Moody. The form is available under the REFEREE menu on our website or by clicking here.
Please print it out, scan it and send your completed application forms to by July 15th.


We are still looking for eager volunteers to fill Divisional Coordinator positions for all division levels – Divisional Coordinators are responsible for organizing teams and tryouts before team managers are selected. There is quite a bit of upfront work during late August and early September, but the role evolves into mainly a communication one for the remainder of the season. Great way to get involved and chip in. If you are available to take on one of these roles, please get in touch with Sharron Tulk.


Well although it seems like summer just started, it’s already time to start thinking about the 2017/18 PMAHA season. Registration is now open for all returning players, with registration for new players taking place on June 14th. We look forward to welcoming back our returning players and introducing our association to our new registrants.

As this is an extremely busy time for our registrar, your patience is appreciated as it pertains to responding to emails. Please feel free to copy the President on emails as well, so we can endeavour to respond ASAP. Please allow for 72 hours for a response from anyone on our the executive team.

As you all know, our association is run mainly by a volunteer executive. This year we have lost a couple of executive members whose roles desperately need to be filled.

Tournament Director: Our tournaments cannot run without someone to oversee them. We run 4 tournaments a year, and each tournament appoints a chairperson to run the event. The Director is responsible for overseeing each tournament. We have a ton of support for this person, and our outgoing Director has offered to assist with the transition, so you don’t need to know everything about running tournaments, just have a willingness to learn.

Referee in Chief: Games cannot be played without refs! We are close to securing the one-half of this team who will be overseeing mentorship, training and strategic direction of the program, but we are still in need of an administrator who will be responsible for scheduling and administrative duties. While it would be great to see someone with reffing experience step forward, we really need someone who is extremely organized, and available to deal with last minute changes (refs not showing, calling in sick etc). These two individuals will work as a team to fulfil this role.

2017 AGM Summary

Dear PMAHA members,

Thank you to all of you who attended last week’s awards ceremony and Annual General Meeting. We had a wonderful turnout for the awards, and it was great to see so many teams, players and officials recognized for their outstanding achievements this season.

Unfortunately, the AGM that followed was not as well attended, which in turn has led to a deficiency on our Executive team. We are still looking for volunteers to fill the following roles:

Referee in Chief (administrative role – referee experience preferred, but not necessary)

Tournament Coordinator

As you know, the association relies on its volunteers to run all of its programs. We are looking at a big shift next year, with many of our current executive “ageing out” of their roles, so I am encouraging anyone with an interest in getting involved to get in touch with me directly.

Well, it’s that time of year again. Time for us to celebrate all the achievements of our players, teams and officials who have brought us such pride over the past 6 months. With what has now become a great tradition, we will kick things off with an amazing slide show created by our fabulous Communications Director Bernard Tung, followed by highlighting our teams who brought us some more banners to hang in our arena. We will then acknowledge some very deserving players, coaches and officials with the individual and team awards.

Cake and refreshments will be served at intermission and we will follow that with our AGM and elections.
